Summary: The Manager of Product Development - mens/unisex is responsible for overseeing the development process from concept to finished SMS. They will report to the Sr Director of Product Development. The ideal candidate will provide visibility to the development execution during the collection process while partnering with the atelier, tech, and production teams to ensure collection objectives and timelines are met.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Review all proto & SMS tech packs to ensure information being passed is accurate
  • Attend all in-house tech pack pass offs with designers and patternmakers
  • Launch all overseas styles for both proto & SMS – Coordinate all materials for overseas development and responsible for sending out to factories
  • Track and receive all seasonal development packages from overseas – QC all samples received
  • Send out development materials and create shipping packaging slips
  • Request and track all press & ecomm samples post presentation/market
  • Compile all patterns and CMs for production pass off at the end of each season
  • Support atelier in digitizing paper patterns for SMS and production pass off
  • Scan and save all CMs at proto and SMS stage – organize yields for pre-production costing
  • Maintain development submits/library and keep all tracking charts updated
  • Set up new styles in RLM and maintain updated information throughout the season for merchandising and production needs
  • Create, maintain, and finalized all BOMs for each style in RLM
  • In charge of final line sheet information which include final sketches, fabric descriptions, and style descriptions
  • Responsible for communicating collection techniques to production team throughout the development process and counter sample when needed
  • Compile all seasonal/approved standards for production binder pass off
  • Launch seasonal trials for development techniques/concepts both locally and overseas
  • Attend all meetings related to development and follow up with design team on next steps after each meeting
  • Coordinate and manage development meetings, merch count, SKU count, and SMS color allocation
  • Manage WIP + T&A calendar, reports and tracking for all seasonal developments
  • Manage development budget
  • Lead SMS handover meeting by providing all design construction details, garment finishing, alterations to sales and production departments
  • Participate in post line review BOM and materials reviews with production
  • Manage all calendar deadlines

 

Requirements:

  • 5 years experience in development (menswear/cut & sew a plus)
  • Time management skills
  • Strong follow up capabilities and must be an effective communicator
  • Flexible, organized and detail oriented
  • Solid technical and garment construction knowledge
  • Highly motivated and self-started
  • Experience in working with local and overseas factories
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and all Microsoft Office programs
  • Proficient with RLM system

In compliance with the New York City salary transparency requirements, the potential salary for this position is from $90,000 to $100,000, which represents a range commensurate with experience, knowledge, and skills required.
