Summary: The Manager of Product Development is responsible for overseeing the development process from concept to finished SMS. They will report to the Sr Director of Product Development and will manage a Product Development assistant. The ideal candidate will provide visibility to the development execution during the collection process while partnering with the atelier, tech, and production teams to ensure collection objectives and timelines are met.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provides leadership to Product Development Assistants
  • Review all proto and SMS tech packs to ensure all correct information is entered such as: specs, material, trims and finishing details
  • Attend tech pack pass offs between design and atelier to endure all specification on the tech packs are communicated and accurate
  • Responsible for inputting and updating RLM information from first proto until final SMS (style number, sketch, style descriptions, BOMS, etc)
  • Create and finalize all BOMS in RLM
  • Oversee the compiling of all patterns and CMs for pass off to the Production team
  • Responsible for communicating collection techniques to production team in order to educate team on unique details and garment requirements
  • Make costing callouts as needed
  • Lead testing for fabrics, trims, garments, fusibles, etc. for production viability
  • Responsible for coordinating all materials (tech packs, fabric, trims, etc.) for out of house full package styles
  • Launch out of house developments with our overseas factories for both proto and SMS
  • Work with fabric and trim teams to confirm all materials are available for protos and SMS
  • QC of all out of house development – ensuring what’s received is what was ordered
  • Coordinating and managing SMS meetings, SKU counts, SMS color allocations
  • Manage WIP & T&A Calendar, reports and tracking for all out of house sampling
  • Responsible for managing all special made-to-order projects
  • Manage monthly/yearly budget, callout when there’s overspending, and ways to reduce costs
  • Pass off of collection to sales (pre-market), coordinate final line sheet information, making sure all fabric descriptions, style descriptions, etc. are up to date
  • Manage the PR/Ecom duplicate needs seasonally
  • Finalize and hand off production binder with all essential information needed per style/group to production at the end of each season
  • Lead SMS hand over meeting by providing all design construction details, garment finishing, alterations made during styling, etc.

 

 

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5 years experience in development
  • Ability to manage a calendar
  • Working knowledge of technical and garment construction
  • Experience working with local and overseas factories
  • Experience working with an in-house atelier
  • Proficient in Excel and all Microsoft Office programs
  • Proficient in RLM or similar programs
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to react in a timely manner / strong problem solver
  • Multitasker

In compliance with the New York City salary transparency requirements, the potential salary range for this position is from $90,000 to $100,000, which represents a range commensurate with experience, knowledge, and skills required.
