Jenny Kim is the founder and chief executive of EPO Fashion Group, which owns five fashion and beauty brands in China. Launched in Guangzhou in 2004, MO&Co. was the group’s first brand, which is now joined by Little MO&Co. for children, cosmetics brand Rec, Edition for the “closet of the gentlewoman” and Common Gender, a menswear brand launched in early 2018 with the help of designer Xander Zhou . Under Kim’s leadership, EPO Fashion Group now has over 1,000 stores globally, including 10 in Hong Kong and seven in Paris plus a range in Selfridges, London.
Before launching her own business, Kim helped to grow her family’s cosmetics company. In 2004, she founded EPO Fashion Group with the intention to develop MO&Co. as a fashion brand. Through EPO Fashion Group, the businesswoman is trying to disassociate the “Made in China” label with cheap labour. The clothing is high quality, but the brands are mid-market and priced accordingly. The retailer has grown in popularity with the younger generation, in part attributed to Kim’s attention to social media and skills with international creative teams.
The group’s advertising campaigns feature internationally renowned models like Freja Beha Erichsen and Liu Wen . Kim has also established a strong brand distinction between the MO&Co. labels. She has partnered with a number of high profile industry individuals like menswear fashion designer Xander Zhou and photographer Willy Vanderperre .
Kim has initiated the MO-Art Program, a public welfare project committed to support art education for orphaned children. She is also a sustainability advocate, having collaborated with environmental organisations and adapted eco-friendly materials.
