Role:

The job-holder will lead the McQueens Warehouse team, playing and important role in helping to deliver the vital back-office business functions required to enable colleagues in other departments to execute the services we have committed to provide to our customers and having a direct and positive impact on the commercial success and growth of the company.

The Operations Manager spear heads the efficient and cost-effective running of the business’ commercial and physical resources and infrastructure.

The role calls for a combination of good stakeholder management, problem-solving, resourcefulness, and attention to detail - requiring the job-holder to be able to switch between long-term strategic initiatives one minute and pivot into rapid, tactical actions the next.

This varied role is all about ‘getting stuff done’ and requires excellent judgement, independent initiative, a high degree of organisation, attention to detail, an ability to manage time and workload effectively, commercial acumen, an ability to be self-motivated, and excellent interpersonal skills.

Duties:

  • Ongoing management of third-party suppliers, specifically any supplier that contributes to the safety and security of the rest of the McQueens organisations. This includes but is not limited to; IT management, Security support, waste collection, cleaning and sanitary services, fleet services and taxes, permit management and sundries suppliers,
  • Ongoing management of buildings and fleet to ensure legal compliance
  • Working with Operations and HR team to produce weekly scheduling for the floral and installation teams and manage the fleet schedule in line with this.
  • Oversee operational activities at all levels of the organisation, working with Chief Operations Officer to ensure top productivity
  • Supporting with training of employees to ensure the necessary skills for jobs are obtained by employees
  • Management of stock flow through vend working in collaboration with the finance manager
  • In charge of scheduling freelancers as required.
  • Oversee and manage PO system and purchase process with the general floristry team, ensuring effective purchasing and cost management at all times.
  • Responsible for carrying out business administration tasks as directed, for example RAMS and Method Statements for jobs when required
  • Contribute to finding smarter, more effective ways to carry out core business management processes.
  • Working with department to facilitate needs as required, supporting event set ups, installations and general office projects as required
  • Managing warehouse team and drivers to ensure a smooth running of both on and off-site tasks
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures at all times
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all types of information relating to employees, customers, etc

Requirements:

  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Experience in an operations role
  • Has experienced working in a creative, fast passed environment
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in a hands-on role
  • Ability to have a flexible work shift when required (high demand periods)
  • Strong oral and written communicator
  • Numerate and commercially astute
  • Confident and proficient user of Email, Teams, Word and Excel
  • UK driving licence
