. Primark Sustainable Cotton Programme Manager

Location: Pakistan
Reports to: Senior Ethical Trade Manager (Bangladesh and Pakistan). Dotted line to PSCP Senior Technical Manager (UK)

The Primark Sustainable Cotton Programme (PSCP) is our flagship corporate social responsibility programme, which small holder cotton farmers use to reduce their environmental impact to improve livelihood.

It does so by providing agronomic training and then managing a system which provides Primark with confidence that the cotton produced by PSCP-trained farmers is used in Primark products. We currently have a small mainly home-based team based in Pakistan, which works with the Ireland/UK headquarters to deliver the programme.

The postholder will be responsible for the effective delivery of the Primark Sustainable Cotton Programme (PSCP) in Pakistan.
Working closely with our external implementing partners, Cotton Connect and the Rural Education Economic Development Society (REEDS) a local NGO.

What You'll Do
Programme Strategy and Oversight
  • Based on a deep understanding of the programme's context in the cotton sector, refine the country strategy for delivery of programme objectives
  • Based on this, develop and track a PSCP Pakistan country workplan.
  • Support the understating and management of key risks for the programme.
  • Work on solutions with partners to address problems arising .
  • Support the Head Quarters-based PSCP team to understand and analyse operations in Pakistan and evaluate programme progress
  • Share and learn from experiences of colleagues in other PSCP countries
  • Work with the team's global Agronomic experts to oversee the roll out regenerative practices in Pakistan as part of the training programme
  • Support other cross-programme initiatives as needed, on themes such as environmental practice

Supply Chain Management, Traceability and Due Diligence (DD)
  • Support the development and implementation of the programme's Human Right Due Diligence approach for PSCP in Pakistan.
  • Oversee implementation of work to support supply chain traceability
  • Support training and communications related to DD (social, environmental and structural) across the PSCP supply chain in Pakistan. This includes through Supporting implementing partners on the training of spinners and ginners on Standard Operating Procedures relating to PSCP traceability use of the associated information technology systems.
  • Ensure Primark standards are well understood and consistency is maintained among all supply chain partners
Relationship Management
  • Lead management of external partner relationships including with programme implementing partners, farmers, businesses along the Primark supply chain.
  • Engage with and build relationships with other 3rd parties, including industry associations, expert organisations, other brands, Non-Governmental Organisations and governmental bodies as required.

Reporting & Data
  • Active and regular communication and reporting to HQ, including information, updates and advice on local developments, perspectives and relevant external requirements/campaigns.
  • Support data management and monitoring, evaluation and learning processes across the PSCP, while maintaining. data security and integrity.


What You'll Bring
  • Experience in managing or implementing farmer-level development programmes.
  • Excellent program management, organisation and communications skills.
  • Fluent in English and Urdu.
  • Broad awareness of Environmental Social and Governance issues in global commodity supply chains.
  • Agriculture/cotton and textile manufacturing experience is preferred. In addition experience of Pakistan business environment would be helpful.
  • Passionate self-starter; who is results-driven and used to working in a fast-paced environment.
  • IT and Financially literate, competent in the use of databases and spreadsheets.
  • Experience of working within a matrixed management structure.
